Reagan is a one-year-old, 105-pound Anatolian Shepherd who came to us from a difficult hoarding situation involving over 40 dogs. While the dogs were cared for and kept clean, they missed out on crucial socialization and everyday home life due to their elderly owners being overwhelmed. Despite his background, Reagan has a surprisingly positive attitude and is the most confident dog from the entire group. He's still learning about household routines, strange noises, and new inventions, but he's making great progress. Reagan enjoys people, seeks attention, and is more engaged than we expected for a dog with his history. He's not a shut-down dog or a "project" in the alarming sense. Instead, he's a young, under-socialized giant breed who needs a patient, structured, and sensible owner. Reagan has the temperament to become a wonderful house dog, and he's sweet, friendly, and eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Reagan would benefit from a home with a confident, friendly dog, although he's not as dependent on this as some others from his case. He is good with other dogs and fine with cats. Due to his size and ongoing learning, we recommend a home with children over 10 years old. Reagan will be a very large dog, easily exceeding 100 pounds when fully grown. His adopter must be prepared for a large livestock guardian breed with a strong personality and independent judgment. A securely fenced yard is required.
Ongoing Health
Reagan is a healthy young dog.
Training & Support
Reagan is learning to be a normal house dog and needs consistency, kindness, and time to build a strong bond. He is working on household routines and adjusting to new experiences.
