Rory

Rory is a truly gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws! He and his canine family were found starving and foraging for food in June 2023. Rory was the first to be safely trapped, and it's clear he's had a tough time. He's incredibly sweet and sensitive, often lowering his head as if anticipating a harsh word. We're working with him to build his confidence and encourage him to hold his head high. He loves to give affectionate "bear hugs" and melts when you cradle his sweet face and offer praise. While he's not very active and enjoys lounging, he's great on a leash. He can sometimes growl at other male dogs, but generally gets along with them, though he should not be placed with other dominant males.

Ideal Home

Rory would thrive in a home that understands his sensitive nature and can continue to build his confidence. He has a strong prey drive and has shown interest in small wildlife and a feral cat, so a secure yard is a must.

Ongoing Health

Rory was heartworm positive and has completed his treatment. He is currently on heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Rory is crate trained. He has a history of digging under fences and climbing them, but has stayed put since his neutering. He needs continued positive reinforcement to help him feel secure and confident.
