Meet Scarlett! This sweet girl is a 4-year-old, 36lb Border Collie/Jindo mix with the softest fur and the most delicate, kind demeanor. Scarlett was rescued from the streets of Phuket, Thailand, by the Soi Dog Foundation and brought to The Barking Lot in November 2023 to find her forever family. While she was previously adopted, she was returned because her previous family wasn't quite sure how to manage a shy dog. Scarlett is a gentle, tender-hearted girl who may take a moment to come out of her shell, but once she does, she's pure magic! New people and busy movement can make her nervous at first, but if you sit down, offer a few treats, and give her space, she'll happily hop up to sit right next to you. She's been thriving in a home environment, currently kenneling with two pups and participating in larger playgroups, but she doesn't need another dog. What she really wants is one special person to build trust with and call her own. Shy dogs like Scarlett are incredibly special, and watching them blossom is one of the most rewarding experiences there is. She's such a good girl and will make an amazing companion for someone willing to give her the patience she deserves.
Ideal Home
Scarlett would thrive in a patient, stable home with a single person or couple. She needs a home that doesn't have an inclination to coddle a timid dog, but will build her confidence through stability, training, and adventure. A quiet, calm environment where she's given the time she needs to feel safe is essential.

Scarlett is located in San Diego County, CA. We happily consider out-of-town applications and can conduct virtual playdates with interested adopters. We have monthly transport to various locations in the Pacific Northwest. Individual arrangements would need to be made for other locations across the US and Canada.
