Bolton is a sweet, gentle, and a little goofy 9-year-old hound mix weighing approximately 64 lbs. He came to us from animal control, underweight and with thin fur, but he's now thriving and looking for a loving family to share his second chance with. Bolton participated in the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience and learned a lot, and he's currently enjoying life in a foster home while he awaits his forever family. He loves to sniff and explore, is playful and curious, but also enjoys relaxing with his people. Bolton is described as a happy boy who lights up every room he enters and is sure to brighten your day. While he's aware of his size and plays gently, he has been known to sneak his front paws onto the counter to sniff enticing smells, but he quickly hops down with a "leave it" command. He's also a good boy during baths!
Ideal Home
Bolton would love to join a family with a nice doggie who enjoys playing, as he enjoys playing tag and greeting other dogs. He's done well with children around 10 years old and in his foster home with 8 and 12-year-olds, so kids around these ages could be a good fit. However, he might be too boisterous for toddlers, so a home without them would be best. Please no cats in your new home, as Bolton likes to chase them.
Ongoing Health
Bolton has a sensitive tummy and eats a prescription food called Hills Science Diet w/d Multi-Benefit, along with a probiotic capsule. He has mild/moderate tartar on his teeth, and his adoptive family should consult with their vet about a dental cleaning in the future. He is also on an allergy medication called Apoquel. He is current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Bolton is a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups program, mastering commands such as sit, stay, down, come, drop it, leave it, and place. He also practices good door etiquette, walks well on a leash with a gentle leader, and greets strangers politely without jumping. He has good crate manners and prefers to be with his people. He has also shown good potty habits. While he loves going on day trips and enjoys greeting people, kids, and dogs, he has chewed leashes in the car, so a chain leash and harness are recommended for safety.
