Layla Abby is a 2-year-old Maltese weighing 28 pounds with a story of resilience and hope. This sweet girl made her way to us after a good Samaritan rescued her from flood waters during a recent storm. Sadly, it was later discovered that Layla had been abandoned by her family months before. When Layla first arrived, she was desperately in need of a groom and plenty of TLC. Understandably nervous and unsure in her new surroundings, she has been slowly learning that she is safe. With patience, gentle handling, and lots of love, Layla is beginning to come out of her shell and show her true personality.
Ideal Home
Layla struggles with transitions and meeting new people, so she will thrive with slow introductions and a family that understands she needs a little time to build trust and feel comfortable. She is looking for a calm, quiet home without children. Her ideal family will be patient, understanding, and committed to helping her continue building confidence at her own pace. Layla appears to do best as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention and avoid the stress that other dogs may cause her. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

Training & Support
Layla walks beautifully on a leash and is currently working on her potty training. With a consistent schedule and positive reinforcement, she is sure to continue making great progress.
