Iris is an 11-month-old, 34.80-pound spayed female who came to us as a stray. She was found at a local service station and, sadly, was not chipped or wearing an ID tag. We were hopeful her family would see her listing during her stray hold, but they did not come forward. Since her arrival, Iris has been a little nervous, but our dedicated staff has been showing her lots of love, patience, and grace daily to help her gain confidence. She's very receptive to this positive attention and enjoys visiting offices, growing more confident each day! Iris is a gentle treat taker, preferring dog treats over human snacks. She even met another dog and shared tail wags and sniff approvals through a gate, showing promise for canine friendships. We don't have information on how she interacts with cats, but we always recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children to ensure a great match. Iris has transformed from shyly retreating to calmly greeting her human friends with enthusiastic tail wags. She walks well on a leash, though she might need a moment to release some excited "zoomies" if she gets too hyped up. This sweet girl will thrive with a family who understands the need to go slow with movements and introductions to new people and canine friends. With patience and grace, she'll undoubtedly become the best companion ever!
Ideal Home
Iris will benefit most from a home that understands the need to go slow with movements and when meeting new canine and human friends.
Ongoing Health
Iris is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Adopters must establish vet care upon adoption.
Training & Support
Iris is learning to manage her excitement, and adopters should be prepared for occasional "zoomies" after a high-energy moment. We recommend following the "3-3-3 Rule" for new pets: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to settle in, and 3 months to build trust.
