Maya

Maya is a delightful 1-year-old Labrador Creole mix, weighing around 30 lbs. She's a loving, intelligent, and obedient pup with a playful spirit. Maya is very sociable and enjoys the company of humans, children, and other dogs. She loves to play, go for walks, run, and shower her people with affection. While a little shy at first with new faces, she quickly melts into your arms once she feels comfortable. Maya is also cat-friendly! She was rescued in March 2024 with her siblings and is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. She is crate and leash trained and is a joyful and funny companion.

Ideal Home

Maya would thrive in a home with an active family who enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. A family with experience in dog behavior and training, and who understands the needs and potential behaviors of rescued animals, would be ideal. She requires a high tolerance and patience for a rescued pup, and adopters should be aware that she is not currently house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Maya has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, receiving DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and being microchipped. She has also tested negative for heartworm and has a 4DX test and health certificate. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm.

Training & Support

Maya is crate and leash trained. However, it's important to note that she is not house-trained and will require consistent training and patience in her new home. Adopters should be prepared for an adjustment period, as rescued dogs may have experienced trauma and need time to decompress and learn new routines.

• We will conduct a phone/email interview, followed by a home check (virtual or in-person) and a virtual meet-and-greet.
• A trial adoption period will be offered, with ongoing communication with our team being imperative.

Transportation

Maya is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transport to the adopter's home address is available for an additional fee.
