Sadie, born January 24, 2020

Sadie, a Shih Tzu mix born on January 24, 2020, is a sweet girl who is still learning to trust the world around her. She came to us on July 5, 2023, from a situation where she didn't have the typical upbringing most pets experience, as she was a former breeding dog. While she is still nervous around new people and everyday occurrences, Sadie absolutely adores snuggling with other dogs and cats. She has been with her foster family, who specialize in rehabilitating former breeding dogs, and has made incredible progress, even learning to be comfortable with leashes for outings to the yard after nearly two years of gentle introduction.

Ideal Home

Sadie would thrive in a quiet home with dog-savvy adults who can read her body language and allow her to build trust at her own pace. She needs to be in a home with another confident, resident dog to help her feel secure and provide companionship. A very securely fenced yard is essential, as she is a flight risk and not suited for homes that are very busy with constant movement or guests. She is not a candidate for travel, RVs, camping, or cottage trips. She is used to cats and would do well in a home with them.

Ongoing Health

Sadie was spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped upon intake. She has been regularly groomed since her arrival. Her last annual check-up was on March 24, 2025, and she had a dental procedure on April 15, 2025.

Training & Support

Sadie is crate trained. Due to her past, she is still a work in progress and needs a patient owner experienced with former breeding dogs. Routine is very important for her to feel safe and secure.
