Meet Gus!
Gus is a sweet, loving boy who adores his people and forms strong bonds with those he trusts. After spending much of his early life in an outdoor kennel, the world can still feel a little big and scary at times. Because of this, Gus can be nervous around new experiences, people, and places, but he is making incredible progress every day. With the help of a trainer, consistency, and lots of love, Gus has shown amazing growth. He's beginning to learn that new places can be safe and that not everything unfamiliar is something to fear. While anxiety can sometimes hold him back from fully enjoying new adventures, his confidence continues to grow with patient guidance.
At home, Gus loves chewing on his toys and does a great job sticking to his own things. He rarely shows interest in children's toys and is happiest when he has plenty of appropriate chew toys available. He is also working on house training and has already proven he can go days without any accidents. When meeting new people, Gus may bark because he's unsure and trying to process the situation. However, he does best when people stay calm and don't reinforce his worries. Given time and patience, he settles in and shows his affectionate, loyal personality. Gus is looking for a family that understands that confidence takes time to build. In return, you'll get a devoted companion who loves deeply and is eager to continue learning that the world is a safe place. With patience, consistency, and love, Gus has all the makings of an absolutely wonderful dog.
