Meet Spud, a jolly, roly-poly bundle of joy! This goofy, sweet potato puppy is looking for a home where he can bring smiles and laughter. Born around mid-April, we believe Spud is a Bull Mastiff mix and will grow to be a strong pup around 60 pounds. He already embodies the loving, loyal, and gentle nature of his breed, with a touch of stubbornness that makes him uniquely Spud. He adores cuddling, playing with other dogs, and exploring the world with enthusiasm, even if it means a little tug-of-war with the leash. Spud is a medium-energy pup who alternates between bursts of playful energy and sweet naps, making him a well-rounded companion.
Ideal Home
Spud would flourish in a home with adopters experienced with large breeds who understand the Bull Mastiff personality. Older children would likely be a good fit, as Spud is an enthusiastic pup who is still learning about personal space and his own size. A dog-savvy cat would be ideal, and supervision is recommended around chickens due to his playful instincts.
Ongoing Health
Spud is currently recovering from ringworm, a treatable fungal infection. He is nearing the end of his intensive treatment, which included medicated baths, environmental cleaning, medication, and quarantine. He is recovering beautifully and is expected to make a full recovery. His neuter surgery is scheduled for on or around August 7th.
Training & Support
Spud is making great progress with his home manners. He knows his "sit" command and is progressing well with potty training, especially with a consistent schedule. He does wake once a night to potty. He is working on his crate training; he sleeps well in his crate at night but can be vocal when left alone during the day. His leash-walking skills are still developing due to his desire to explore.
