Shadow

Shadow is a beautiful 8-year-old girl who weighs around 50 pounds. She has the spirit of a much younger dog and a whole lot of love to give! Shadow is heartworm negative, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has been spayed.

Shadow is a resilient soul who spent a long time in a shelter. Despite her sweet nature, she was overlooked due to her appearance and the need for a structured home. Thankfully, a foster stepped in to save her, and she's been waiting for her forever family ever since. She's ready to commit to a serious relationship with the right person, and in return, she'll be supported by us for life.

Ideal Home

Shadow would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention. She needs a confident handler who can help her navigate her anxiety and reactivity. She is not a dog for the dog park and prefers to avoid greetings with other dogs on leash.

Ongoing Health

Shadow is currently heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, and has been spayed. She is working through anxiety and reactivity with a trainer and has been prescribed trazadone, but is being trained drug-free to encourage self-soothing.

Training & Support

Shadow has a bite history involving an off-leash small dog and an off-leash dog that charged her. She has a prey drive for small dogs. She is easily redirected and has shown positive interactions with other large dogs with a barrier. She is very food motivated and loves enrichment toys. She responds well to leash work and other "jobs" to manage her anxiety. Her adoptive family will have lifetime access to her trainer for ongoing support, including advice on nutrition and dog behavior.
