Dewey

Dewey is the kind of dog who will hike through the woods with you in the morning and curl up beside you while you drink your coffee. At around 2 years old and weighing 45-50 pounds, this Carolina Dog mix is equal parts outdoorsman and devoted companion. Dewey is incredibly smart and thrives when his brain is engaged. He loves playing hide-and-seek, "find it" with treats, and solving little homemade puzzles. Sniffing is his favorite pastime, whether it's longline exploring in the yard or taking in every scent on a woodland hike. He has a playful, goofy side that's impossible not to smile at. Once unsure about toys, he now proudly carries around his beloved squeaky ball and enjoys a good game of tug.

Ideal Home

Dewey would thrive with someone who appreciates both adventure and structure. A home without young children and an experienced adopter are recommended. A calm, structured environment and a yard for sniffing and enrichment are a big plus.

Training & Support

Dewey does experience leash reactivity toward passing dogs, people, and bicycles. He is improving with training, but will need a confident, dog-savvy adopter committed to continuing positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management.
