A sweet and gentle fellow, Atlas is approximately 5 years old and weighs around 47 lbs. He's still gaining a little weight and is looking for a loving family to help him do just that. Atlas came to us needing a new home and is now enjoying a calm foster environment while he waits to meet his perfect match. He's making great progress in his foster home, and his sweet and gentle personality is really starting to shine through as he learns to trust.
Ideal Home
Atlas would thrive in a calm and quiet home where he can continue to build his confidence. He's a sensitive soul and would do best with a patient family who will go slowly with him. He has shown he likes other dogs, so a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs is a must. He hasn't met cats or children yet, but it's best he avoid toddlers due to his size and rambunctious children, as he can be easily startled.
Ongoing Health
Atlas is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. He has moderate tartar on his teeth, and his new family should consult with their vet about a dental cleaning in the future. He is currently taking an over-the-counter probiotic daily for digestive health.
Training & Support
Atlas knows commands like "down," "stay," "come," and "place," and he's eager to learn more! Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all adopted dogs, which would be a great way to continue his education. While he was crate-trained at the shelter, he could scale a 6-foot open-top kennel, so he should not be left unattended in the yard until his tendency to climb is better understood. He has excellent potty manners in his foster home, having had accidents at the shelter likely due to stress.
