Lázaro is a charming 6-7 year old, approximately 19lb Schnauzer mix with a heart of gold. He's a calm and gentle soul who enjoys quiet companionship. Lázaro is a well-behaved boy who is comfortable sleeping in an open crate and can stay in it for short periods. He's a social butterfly who gets along with other dogs, children, men, and women. He even coexists peacefully with chickens and roosters! Lázaro appreciates calm affection and is happy to be your low-key best friend. He enjoys walks and is non-aggressive, though he might bark to assert himself – it's all bark and no bite! Lázaro was abandoned for being "old" and "different," but he's a testament to inner beauty and resilience. He's ready for a family who will cherish his quiet loyalty and unique spirit.
Ideal Home
Lázaro would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with an open mind and a real intention to rescue, understanding that rescued animals need protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, or a willingness to hire a trainer is a must. He requires high tolerance and patience, especially since he is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Lázaro is healthy and pain-free, despite having one eye that is congenitally small and without vision, and missing a few teeth. These conditions do not limit him in any way. He has received his spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for 4DX and heartworm. He is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra and has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Lázaro is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. He can be a bit protective of his food, so establishing clear boundaries during feeding times is recommended. Patience and understanding are crucial, as rescued dogs may need an adjustment period to build trust and adapt to a new environment.

Transporation
Lázaro is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast. Transportation is available through a scheduled cross-country trip, with a one-time fee of $400 USD. This includes door-to-door delivery, with real-time updates provided through a private Facebook Messenger group.
