Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent Labrador mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 42 lbs. She was found tied to a tree with a wire that had cut into her neck, but despite her rough start, she has a sweet and resilient spirit. Once she feels safe, Teresa becomes affectionate, playful, and craves cuddles and attention. She gets along well with dogs, children, and adults, and has shown no negative reactions to cats in cages. She is a calm and respectful dog who prefers a peaceful environment.
Ideal Home
Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs and behaviors of rescued animals. Previous experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly desired. Patience and high tolerance are crucial for this intelligent girl.
Ongoing Health
Teresa is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. She has been dewormed and tested negative for heartworm and the 4DX test. She is on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She has a scar on her neck from a past injury, but it does not affect her spirit.
Training & Support
Teresa is not fully house-trained and will require patience and consistency. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be crate-trained, though she may be nervous at first. Her new family should be prepared for an adjustment period and understand that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences. Providing a safe, loving environment, establishing a routine, and setting clear boundaries will help her build trust and bond with her new family.
