Meet Sarge!

This handsome fellow is a playful and spunky boy who gives the best hugs. Sarge came to us as an owner surrender, having spent his entire life in a backyard behind a four-foot fence. His New Year's resolution is to finally be adopted into a loving home where he can nap on a couch, sleep in a warm bed, and have a family to call his own. Despite his past, Sarge's heart is wide open. He gives love freely, enjoys happy zoomies, and makes friends with everyone he meets. He's looking for a chance and a door that opens to a lifetime of love.

Sarge greets every day with enthusiasm and is a loyal, sweet companion ready to dedicate his life to his forever family. He's an expert at opening doors of all kinds but somehow always stayed contained. He might try to sneak treats with his keen nose, but he's a champion at keeping his kennel clean, suggesting he's likely potty trained. Sarge has incredible potential to be someone's dream dog.

Ideal Home

Sarge would thrive in a home that can provide him with consistency and guidance. He barked at other dogs during a beach outing, so he'll benefit from training to help him unlearn that habit.

Ongoing Health

Sarge has tested heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment. His medical costs for this treatment will be covered, but he needs a quiet home environment to recover. The vet believes he may be younger than his reported age of seven, as his teeth are in excellent condition.

Training & Support

Sarge is an expert at opening doors and may try to sneak treats. He will benefit from training to help him with his habit of barking at other dogs. His clean kennel suggests he is likely potty trained.
