Meet River!
River is a lively six-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix whose golden coat with soft white accents shines just as brightly as her affectionate spirit. At around 50 pounds, this medium-sized girl is a bundle of energy and devotion, always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure with her favorite people! River absolutely adores human connection, especially bonding closely with men, and she is happiest when she can curl up under the covers, soaking in warmth and companionship after a full day of fun. River thrives on activity and would love to join a family who enjoys running, hiking, swimming, or long walks. Tug-of-war is one of her favorite games, and she lights up when she gets to play and engage! She has completed formal obedience training and knows commands like sit, lay down, wait, and kennel up, showing how eager she is to learn and connect through positive reinforcement. She is also house-trained, comfortable being left alone for short periods, and enjoys car rides, making her a wonderful companion for both daily routines and weekend outings. River also has a sweet, relaxed side. She loves sunbathing, lounging after exercise, and being close to her people! River is ready for her next chapter filled with love, activity, and connection. Could River be the loyal, playful companion you have been searching for?
Ideal Home
River needs a caring environment where she can be the only pet, as she needs space away from other animals. She has shown strong reactivity toward other animals, particularly cats and small dogs, and there has been a serious past incident involving a cat, so a pet-free home is essential. Because she has limited experience with children, River may not tolerate young children who are loud, grabby, or unpredictable, so a home with teenagers or adults would be the best fit.
Ongoing Health
Occasional skin sensitivity is well managed with vitamins, helping her stay comfortable and happy.
Training & Support
River has completed formal obedience training and knows commands like sit, lay down, wait, and kennel up. She is house-trained and comfortable being left alone for short periods. River may feel uneasy around loud noises like drills or hair dryers, but with understanding and support, she settles beautifully into a calm and cuddly companion. She would benefit from a confident, experienced pet parent who understands energetic dogs and can continue providing structure, guidance, and clear boundaries.
