Hi, I’m Takoda! I’m a beautiful 2-year-old brindle boy with mesmerizing blue eyes, and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe in the world. I came from a shelter in California during the wildfires, after a very difficult start where I was so shut down I would curl up in the corner and try to make myself as small as possible. I was rescued from a scary situation, and I’m still learning—day by day—that not all humans have to be frightening. Right now, I’m in a really important chapter of my life: building confidence, learning trust, and discovering that the world can be a kind place. Some days I still feel unsure, but I’m making steady progress, and when I do feel safe, my playful, joyful personality starts to shine through in the most beautiful way. When I let you in, I’m incredibly sweet and deeply loyal. I just need someone who understands that trust takes time—but once it’s there, it’s worth everything. If you’re looking for a dog with a gentle soul, a playful spirit, and a truly beautiful journey still unfolding, I might just be your guy.
Ideal Home
I love other dogs and really enjoy a good game of chase. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things! Because of my personality, I do best with female dogs or mellow male dogs, and I would thrive in a home without small animals due to my strong prey drive.

Training & Support
I need patience, structure, and gentle guidance. I’m still working on manners and confidence, but I’m very eager to learn and want to do well. With the right support, I continue to grow braver and more comfortable every day. Please note: All Arctic Rescue dogs are marked “yes” to “Needs Experienced Adopter.” This is because Northern breeds typically have higher exercise, training, and care requirements than others. We recommend researching the breed before pursuing adoption if you do not have prior experience.
