Parker Sunday Stroll

Parker is a quiet, gentle, and easygoing boy who takes life at his own pace. He has a peaceful energy that can make any home feel a little more grounded. Estimated to be around 2 years old and weighing 21 lbs, Parker appears to be a Portuguese Podengo, but as always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. Parker shines most naturally with other dogs; he's currently fostered in a home with multiple dogs and has been wonderfully comfortable from the start. He greets politely, gives a quick sniff, and then goes about his business. He doesn't need to be in the middle of the action to feel secure; he just enjoys being part of the pack. Parker has proven himself to be an easy, low-maintenance house guest. He is house trained, sleeps through the night, and has a playful side that comes out more as he gets comfortable. He is the kind of dog who quietly fits into your routine without asking for much, just a safe space and time to settle in. With people, Parker is shy at first and takes human affection slowly. He allows handling without any issues and has no signs of aggression, just a gentle hesitation with new touch. He will benefit from a patient, understanding home that gives him the space to decompress and adjust at his own pace. On leash, Parker is still building confidence; new environments and the general outside world can feel a bit overwhelming, but he handles walks without fuss.

Ideal Home

Parker would thrive in a multi-dog home where he can take his cues from confident, friendly dogs around him. He could do well in a house with a yard where he can explore at his own pace, but he could also succeed in an apartment as long as it's a calmer, lower-traffic environment, especially during his initial adjustment period.

Ongoing Health

All vetting is up to date, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.

Training & Support

Parker is house trained and sleeps through the night. He is shy with new people and takes affection slowly, but he is open to learning. He is still building confidence on leash and can find new environments overwhelming, but he handles walks without fuss and will improve with gentle guidance and continued exposure.

Parker is located in Texas and can be transported to various drop-off locations nationwide, including WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters).
