Steve

Steve was discovered outside the local shelter when the employees arrived for work, tucked away in the bottom of a tall laundry basket amongst literal trash. He was nothing but skin and bones. Security footage revealed a pickup truck pulling up at 4:23 a.m. and three men leaving Steve and his basket at the front door. Due to his critical condition, humane euthanasia was initially considered the kindest option. However, when Steve heard the commotion and realized these people cared about him, he lifted his head as if to say, "I'm still here!" Steve has seen a vet and is extremely malnourished and neglected. He is about 4-6 pounds under weight, and his toenails were so long they had curled under his feet and were growing into his pads. He has a long road to recovery, but he's getting stronger every day!

Ideal Home

Steve is looking for a patient and loving home where he can continue his recovery and build trust.

Steve is recovering from severe malnourishment and neglect. He is receiving ongoing veterinary care.

Training & Support

Steve is still building strength and confidence. He will benefit from a nurturing environment and positive reinforcement.
