Barkley

Barkley is a 6 1/2 year old double merle Sheltie with a unique twist - he's both blind and deaf! But don't let that fool you; his disabilities don't slow him down one bit. Barkley is a master of navigating his world, enjoying leisurely walks on the leash, though he prefers a relaxed pace and shorter distances. He's even mastered the stairs in his foster home! Barkley absolutely adores meal times and treats, and he's happy to spend all day snuggled up next to you for pets and belly rubs. He also finds great joy in lounging on the sun porch, soaking up the afternoon breeze.

Ideal Home

Barkley would thrive in a home with no more than one other low-energy, mellow dog to keep him company. A fenced yard is a must for his safety and enjoyment.

Ongoing Health

Barkley has a condition called "fly catchers syndrome," where he may suddenly wake up from sleep and spin or snap in the air. He also experiences occasional bouts of 'non-24,' a disrupted sleep cycle. His foster parent can provide more details about these conditions.

Training & Support

Barkley has shown no issues sharing toys with his current housemates and is comfortable relaxing in his kennel when unsupervised. However, he's not a fan of nail trims, so an experienced groomer or the vet is recommended for this.
