Meet Penny, a bright-eyed, 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix who is overflowing with love and ready for her next adventure! Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who truly thrives when she's active, engaged, and close to her people. Her curiosity and social nature mean she's always up for a new experience or a cozy cuddle session.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively. She needs a cat-free home due to some prey-driven behavior observed outdoors. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, she's still learning canine social etiquette and can be a bit much for smaller or timid dogs. She'll do best with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can set healthy boundaries. Her ideal home will provide structure, patience, and understanding, and will not expect perfection immediately.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a healthy girl with no specific health conditions noted.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and can be left in a designated area when home alone, though she is still learning to be completely comfortable with separation and may whine or bark due to her strong bond with her humans. She has not yet been crate trained. She has a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored, so dog-appropriate chew toys are recommended. Penny can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, which is managed by separating her during mealtimes and treat times. This is a manageable behavior that responds well to clear boundaries and respectful management. She is still working on leash manners, getting excited at first but settling with guidance.
