Meet Dani!

Dani is a devoted four-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix with a sleek black coat and bright white accents. This 52-pound girl carries herself with quiet strength and has an even bigger heart! Dani’s story began on the streets of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she was found as a young pup facing tremendous medical challenges. Through attentive care and steady devotion, she regained her health and blossomed into the deeply bonded, affectionate companion she is today. She still carries small scars on her paws, gentle reminders of her early chapters, but her spirit is full of warmth and loyalty.

With her people, Dani is extraordinarily loving! She is a full-on bed sleeper who happily curls close, sometimes “purring” softly when she feels especially content. She forms a deep emotional bond with her people and loves to stay close, often following them from room to room, always wanting to be near. She is wonderfully intuitive and has a gentle way of offering comfort, including giving soft licks when she senses you may be feeling down. She adores tugging ropes, enjoys peaceful walks, and knows her commands including sit, stay, wait, and come. Having worked extensively with a humane trainer using positive reinforcement, she thrives with structure and clear guidance. She is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is also respectful in the home and does not engage in destructive behaviors like chewing on furniture or personal belongings.

Ideal Home

Dani does have pronounced fear-based reactivity toward other dogs and must be the only pet in her home. She can take a little time to feel comfortable in new situations or with new people, and she can be wary with some new men at first, yet with thoughtful introductions she generally warms up. When introductions are handled in a way that feels safe and comfortable for her, she often relaxes, may engage in a bit of play, and then settles into calmly ignoring new people. In situations where there isn’t time for a proper introduction, such as unexpected visitors or service calls to the home, she may express herself by barking. She would benefit from an experienced, confident pet parent who can maintain routine and provide a calm, caring environment, ideally with a fenced yard in a quieter setting. If you work from home, she will gladly keep you company all day, resting at your feet and watching the world go by. Dani is not a beginner’s dog, but for the right family, she is a remarkable companion who needs a steady hand and a tender heart.

Dani is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She does have small scars on her paws from her past.

Training & Support

Dani knows her commands including sit, stay, wait, and come. She is house-trained and respectful in the home, not engaging in destructive behaviors. Transportation

Dani is located in Rutland, VT, and will remain with her current family until a suitable new home is found for her. She is open to a long-distance adoption.
