Howdy! My name is Diesel IX! I am a gentle giant that is on the hunt for my forever home! I was very loved in my previous home and after changes in my owner's life, he made the tough decision to surrender me. I am 9 years old but don't let that shy you away because my foster mom says I have a lot of spunk and act younger than my age once I get comfortable! Because of being with my previous owner all of my life and then in a new place with new people, I needed time to warm up and settle in. I am shy with new people, young and old, but once I get comfortable, I'm a sweet and fun boy! I have really settled into routine in my foster home and come out of my shell letting my personality and playful side show! If you are looking for an older boy that will happily accompany you on car rides or daily walks, I'm your guy!
Ideal Home
Diesel is shy with new people, young and old, but warms up to become a sweet and fun boy. He lives with an 8-year-old female boxer/pit mix and they get along fine. He also lives with three teenagers and loves getting attention from them.
Ongoing Health
Diesel is house-trained and crate-trained. He calmly whines when displeased with the crate but sleeps on a dog bed in the human's room at night. He is trustworthy to be left to roam the home for short periods. He does not like ear drops but tolerates baths.
Training & Support
Diesel is great on leash and non-reactive. He is a built-in alarm system and will alert when someone is at the door. He has good behavior outside and does not dig. He ignores neighbor dogs when they bark. He is learning that baths are a good thing once he is getting a good scrub and towel dry.
