Mighty is a 12-week-old Beagle Mix, weighing in at 11lbs (as of 6/18). He's already neutered and is expected to be around 40lbs when fully grown. Mighty is a serious cuddle machine who is happiest when snuggled up on the couch. He's incredibly loving, gentle, and sweet-natured, with a little hound howl that comes out when he's alone, though he's a champion at self-soothing and calms down quickly. He sleeps through the night in his crate, which he loves. While he's still getting used to the city, he's becoming braver with each walk. He's learning basic puppy training and is very trusting of everyone he meets, human or furry. He's working on potty training, which is improving daily, and he's sure to fill any home with endless love and joy.
Ideal Home
Mighty will need an adopter with intermediate dog ownership experience, who can provide significant structure, daily exercise, and mental stimulation. This includes at least 90 minutes of movement in the morning, plus potty breaks and brain games throughout the day. Adopters should have primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, or energy level. Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, and adopters must have a lot of time and patience. Mighty is best suited for an adult-only home or one with children ages 8 and up, as puppies can be mouthy and rambunctious. Researching the Beagle breed is strongly encouraged to understand potential temperament and exercise needs.
Ongoing Health
Mighty is healthy as far as we know. He is up to date on his DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, has been neutered, microchipped, and treated with dewormer. Adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.
Training & Support
Mighty is working on potty training, which is improving daily. He is also in a mouthy phase, which is common for puppies as they explore and teethe. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key to managing this. He may experience some separation anxiety as he learns to self-soothe, which is typical for puppies and can be managed with consistent training. Leash manners will also need to be worked on. Crate training is not formal yet, but many adopters choose to do so. Professional dog training with a rewards-based trainer is strongly urged from the start.
