NY Lily (foster in Pawling NY)

Meet Lily! This sweet, intelligent, and beautiful dog has a lot of love to give and is part of our Senior to Senior adoption program. Lily is already fully housetrained and knows her basic commands like sit, stay, down, paw, and come. She absolutely adores being brushed, which is perfect for maintaining her gorgeously thick coat!

Ideal Home

Lily currently lives with a dog and cats in her foster home and coexists with them beautifully, though she has zero interest in playing with other dogs. She is content just sharing space. Lily has been around children and is tolerant of them, but she can get a bit overwhelmed by multiple kids and prefers to keep her distance rather than engage in play. Lily is a large, powerful girl and will do best with an adopter who can comfortably handle her. We recommend using a harness for walks to keep things manageable and safe.

Training & Support

Lily can experience anxiety when introduced to a new environment, which may manifest as pacing, barking, and whining. However, this behavior is not destructive and completely fades once she feels safe. New situations, people, and places need to be introduced slowly and patiently by someone she trusts. Once Lily feels comfortable, she settles down beautifully and becomes a relaxed, loyal companion. She needs a patient, loving family willing to give her the time she needs to build a trusting bond.
