Leon is a loving, intelligent, and obedient 1-year-old mixed breed with a playful spirit. Weighing around 30 lbs, this energetic pup is sociable with humans, children, and other dogs. He enjoys playtime, walks, and running, and absolutely adores affection. While a little shy at first when meeting new people, he quickly warms up and melts into your arms. Leon is also dog and cat friendly, docile, joyful, and funny. He was rescued in March 2024 in Saltillo, Mexico, with his six siblings.
Ideal Home
We are looking for homeowners with a fenced backyard who lead active lifestyles and enjoy outdoor activities. Families with an open mind and understanding of the needs of rescued street animals, including their potential behaviors that require protection and education, are ideal. Experience in dog behavior and training is highly valued, as is a high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies. Leon is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Leon has completed a comprehensive health protocol including being spayed/neutered (certificate provided), receiving 2 DHPPI vaccines, a Rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and is microchipped. He has also tested negative for heartworm (certificate provided) and received a 4DX test and certificate. He is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are included.
Training & Support
Leon is crate and leash trained. However, he is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Due to the large number of animals we care for, we are unable to house-train each one. We emphasize that rescued pets are "perfectly imperfect" and may require additional patience and training.

- A home check (virtual or in-person) will be conducted.
- A virtual meet and greet will be arranged.
- If a good match is determined, an adoption contract will be provided, which may include a trial adoption period.
Transportation
Leon is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address on the East Coast is available for an additional fee of $400.00, which is paid by the adopter prior to departure.
