Gary: 8 Pounds of Bad Decisions
Let's not waste each other's time. If you're looking for a sweet little Chihuahua who loves everyone he meets, Gary would like to respectfully suggest that you keep scrolling. If Chihuahuas are generally considered spicy, Gary is a ghost pepper dipped in hot sauce and launched directly into your face. At 8 years old and 8 pounds, Gary has somehow managed to pack the attitude of a drunken bar brawler into a body roughly the size of a loaf of bread. After losing his person, Gary bounced around between homes before landing in rescue. Somewhere along the way, he developed the very reasonable opinion that most humans are idiots and should earn his trust. Once Gary decides you're his person, everything changes. The tiny terrorist becomes a tiny shadow. The angry potato becomes a devoted companion. Gary doesn't make friends. Gary acquires hostages. And once you're chosen, you're chosen for life.
Ideal Home
A calm home, a patient human, a sunny window, and an unlimited cheese budget. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not demanded and sees past the teeth to realize there's actually a deeply loyal little dog underneath all the threats. Young children should absolutely not apply. Random visitors should not assume they're welcome.
Ongoing Health
Gary has a luxating patella, a heart murmur, and a history of possible seizures. He takes Fluoxetine for anxiety and Keppra daily, costing less than $25 per month combined.
Training & Support
Gary bites. Not occasionally. Not "when startled." Not "only if you touch his feet." Gary firmly believes that strangers are suspicious and should be treated accordingly. Your first few weeks together may involve a healthy respect for personal space, strategic treat deployment, and what some experts would describe as "a surprising amount of protective equipment." Your veterinarian should know what a muzzle is. Picking him up without permission is an excellent way to learn about FAFO.
