Francine is one of the lucky ones, and she knows it! She was found wandering the streets of Houston in January 2026, painfully thin at just 30 pounds, searching for food and survival. Despite everything she had been through, Francine never lost her gentle, loving spirit. She has made an incredible transformation, doubling her weight to around 60 pounds and continuing to thrive. Sadly, her foster mom is now facing a terminal illness and needs to find Francine the safe, loving home she deserves. Francine is estimated to be about 2.5 years old and appears to be a Lab/Hound/Great Dane mix with big paws and an even bigger heart. She is a total lovebug who wants nothing more than to be close to her person, happily leaning into you, standing between your legs, and soaking up affection. She gives full-body hugs, which are adorable, but due to her size, she may do best in a home without small children while she continues learning her manners. Francine is still building confidence with new sounds and environments and will thrive with a patient, loving family who can continue showing her that she is safe and will never have to fight for survival again. If you're looking for a deeply loyal, affectionate companion who will love you with her whole heart, Francine is ready to meet you.
Ideal Home
Francine may do best in a home without small children while she continues learning her manners due to her size and enthusiastic full-body hugs. She has shown minimal interest around cats, but this is not fully guaranteed.
Ongoing Health
Francine is spayed and fully vaccinated.
Training & Support
Francine is crate and routine friendly and is learning leash skills. Because of her past, she is still protective of her food around other dogs. She does great being fed separately and has shown no issues with people around her food. While new environments can feel a little overwhelming at first, Francine adjusts quickly.
