About Moe

Moe is a sweet, gentle, and affectionate 2-year-old, 11-pound male Chihuahua mix with a lovely soul. He has adjusted very well during his time in NYC and enjoys going for walks, curling up in a warm lap, and earning treats, especially cheese. He is also a big fan of giving kisses and spending time close to his foster family. Moe is a very well-behaved and obedient dog, eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. He is making steady progress with housetraining and is great on a leash, walking calmly without pulling. Moe is friendly with both people and other dogs, though he can be shy when first meeting new people. Once he feels comfortable, he becomes very attached and will happily follow you from room to room.

Ideal Home

Moe is looking for a quiet to medium energy home where he enjoys both downtime and leisurely adventures. He would do well as a solo dog or with another calm, friendly dog. He gets along well with the resident dog in his foster home and has recently been interested in playing. Because Moe is such a gentle and sensitive soul, he would do best with an adopter who is calm, patient, and gentle. He may need a little time to build trust but once he feels safe, he forms a deep bond and becomes incredibly loyal. A home with older children who can respect his space and allow him to settle in at his own pace is recommended. Moe is not a fan of the crate and is much calmer, more relaxed, and more able to rest when he is outside of it.

Ongoing Health

Moe is vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. He is microchipped and has been neutered. He is negative for heartworm disease and is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Moe is still learning basic commands but is eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. His forever family will need to continue working with Moe to reinforce the progress he has been making. Moe can have a little separation anxiety, but he generally self-regulates well and settles down when left alone.
