Meet Howlena the Hound

Once upon a time, a sweet foxhound girl found herself sitting quietly at the NENC SPCA, a timestamp hanging over her head and hope running short. When I went there to pull dogs for another organization, I saw this face... and well, that was it. Of course she came with.

Howlena is an approximately 4-year-old foxhound with a heart as big as her ears. She's dog-friendly, loyal, loving, and incredibly sweet. She does need some guidance and training around cats, but her eagerness to please makes her a wonderful candidate for continued learning.

It's clear she was once a hunting dog - scents are her love language. She thrives when she can track smells, explore the world, and use that incredible nose of hers. She would do best with a family who enjoys adventures, walks, hikes, or even nose work games to help her feel fulfilled... followed, of course, by a comfy bed to rest her tired paws and soul.

And let's talk about her personality - Howlena is the QUEEN of zoomies. Fast, joyful, and absolutely hilarious to watch, she lives for those bursts of happiness. But don't worry - she also has an excellent "whoa." When playtime is over, she's more than ready to climb right on you and snuggle on the couch like she's been there forever.

Despite being a hound, she's not vocal, which surprises everyone, and once she bonds with you, her loyalty runs deep.

Howlena didn't just survive a sad situation - she blossomed. Now she's waiting for the home that will love her as fiercely as she loves in return.
