About Skippy

Meet Skippy, a sweet, gentle, and loyal little man who is 14 years young and still has plenty of love to give! Skippy has lived with one family his entire life and is now looking for a new start. He is a lovely companion who deserves to be someone’s special baby for his remaining years, which are predicted to be several in his current state. Skippy is seemingly healthy, up to date on vaccines, and had a vet visit in June. Other than some moles and little fatty lumps, he is in excellent condition for his age. He will need grooming every six weeks to stay short and sleek, or he can grow out to an awesome fluffy coat with the right maintenance in brushing.

Skippy was reported housebroken but has had some accidents while getting acclimated. He seems like he’d need a lot of supervision to achieve that title again, but he doesn’t mind wearing a belly band, which makes a big difference! He is more receptive to positive training. He is the perfect chill couch buddy and will collect his toys, pile them up, and toss them to himself. He’s playful for a few minutes, then back to cuddling. He is literally amazing and is great with other small dogs and cats.

Ideal Home

Skippy would make the perfect addition to a family, especially if someone is retired or works from home and can keep him nearby all day at home and on outings, which he loves! He would also be fine with the right kids who are calmer and understand boundaries.

Ongoing Health

Skippy is seemingly healthy with some moles and little fatty lumps, which is common for his age. He is up to date on vaccines and had a vet visit in June.

Training & Support

Skippy has had some accidents while adjusting, so he will need supervision to regain his house-training. He does well with a belly band. He responds best to positive training methods. He was a little snappy over certain things when he first arrived but has shown no incidents in months after bonding and learning the routine. He just doesn’t like being guided or food taken from a stranger. Gentle and consistent handling will win him over.
