About Stryker (20251124-02)

Stryker is a handsome 5-year-old husky with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He and his sister were sadly abandoned at a kennel, so much of his early history is unknown—but what is clear is that Stryker absolutely loves people. He is incredibly social, friendly, and thrives on human connection, making him the kind of dog who quickly becomes everyone’s best friend. Loyal to the core, he sticks close to his people and truly embodies the phrase “man’s best friend.”

This high-energy, enthusiastic boy loves being part of the action and will do best in an active home where he can enjoy regular walks, mental enrichment, and ongoing training. Stryker is playful, fun, and always ready for adventure, but once he’s had a chance to burn off his energy, he transforms into a total cuddle bug who happily sleeps beside you and soaks up belly rubs. He’s generally a quiet guy, though he’ll occasionally charm you with a classic husky “awoo” when he has something to say.

Ideal Home

Stryker needs an active home with a securely fenced yard that has a high, solid fence (no chain link) and close supervision due to his athletic nature and potential prey drive. He would do best in a home where people are around most of the time, as he can become anxious and destructive if left alone for long periods. Due to his tendency to mouth when overexcited, a home without young children is preferred, and he cannot live with cats or small dogs due to his strong prey drive. He cannot live in an apartment.

Ongoing Health

Stryker has no known medical issues and is neutered.

Training & Support

Stryker is food-motivated and enjoys enrichment activities but needs help learning boundaries, especially regarding human food. He is working on crate training and is comfortable resting in an open crate but does not enjoy confinement. He pulls on the leash when he spots small critters and will benefit from continued leash training and confidence-building, particularly around large vehicles that he finds scary. Experienced dog owners who can provide structure and consistency are recommended.
