Meet Michelle! This 3-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix, weighing around 48 pounds, is a rescue with a heart of gold, ready to transport to her forever home from Houston, Texas. She was saved from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and is embracing her second chance with open paws! Michelle is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social, especially with other dogs. She loves playtime and cozy naps with her foster siblings, though her enthusiasm can sometimes lead to playful bumps—she's great at reading cues and adjusting her play.
Michelle has a good balance of energy for outdoor adventures and a mellow demeanor for indoor lounging and snoozing. She's a happy, mellow house companion who knows when it's time to wind down. She's been sweet and loving with children ages 8 and up, but because she can jump when excited, a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy teens would be ideal.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and plenty of playtime. She would do great in an apartment or urban setting as long as she gets consistent exercise and enrichment. She needs a secure yard or leash walks due to being an escape artist who can scale fences.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy dog.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained, even choosing her crate for daytime comfort. She's food motivated and a quick learner, but she can be a bit sneaky with food, so she's fed separately and does best with guidance during snack times. She responds well to redirection. Michelle walks fairly well on leash but tends to pull; continued leash training and structure will help her improve. She loves to chew, especially on outdoor items, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important.
