Dagger is a playful and affectionate 6.5-month-old Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued with her mother and littermates from a rural area outside of Houston. Dagger, named for a distinctive white marking on her neck, is a confident and curious puppy who loves to cuddle and play. She's a talented escape artist, so a secure yard is a must! Dagger is friendly with strangers and enjoys playing with other dogs. She has been around children and done well.
Ideal Home
Dagger would thrive in an active home that can provide consistent training, socialization, and plenty of opportunities for enrichment. She needs a family that is committed to helping her mature into a well-balanced adult. A home with a securely fenced yard is essential due to her talent for escaping enclosures. We prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor Dagger, but we are open to homes without resident dogs if you have a proactive plan for continued socialization and canine interaction. Because Dagger is still young, homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are preferred.
Ongoing Health
Dagger is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. As with any young dog, ongoing veterinary care will be necessary.
Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained and continues to learn about the world around her. She benefits from positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. Ongoing socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building her lifelong confidence.

- This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
- Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
- Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
