Meet Remi-Texas, a playful, gentle, and snuggly Doodle/Standard Poodle mix who is approximately 2 years old and weighs 42 lbs. Remi is slow to warm up but incredibly affectionate once he trusts you. He was sadly abandoned by his previous owner but has maintained a loving, gentle, and resilient spirit. He's a goofy and affectionate boy with a heart of pure gold! His favorite routine involves waking up early, going potty, and then sprinting back inside for morning snuggles.
Ideal Home
Remi needs an active family committed to providing him with the exercise and mental stimulation he craves. A confident dog sibling is a must, as he adores other dogs and looks to them for comfort and play. A physical fence and yard are required, as he prefers to potty off-leash in a fenced area. Electronic or invisible fences are not suitable for him. He would do best in a home with respectful children who understand that loud noises may frighten him.
Ongoing Health
Remi is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on core vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm preventives. His heartworm and fecal tests were negative. He has a high-maintenance coat that requires regular brushing and professional grooming every 8-10 weeks to prevent matting.
Training & Support
Remi is crate-trained and sleeps comfortably for 6-8 hours at night. He may bark for 10-15 seconds when you first leave but settles quickly. His foster family uses movies or a fan and treats in his crate to make it a happy place. He is 95% potty trained but may need a gentle reminder to finish his business. He can drink excessive amounts of water if left with a full bowl, which can lead to accidents; his intake should be regulated. He may have "excitement tinks" (happy peeing) when over-excited. Remi is slow to warm up to unfamiliar men but settles after a good sniff. He can be hyper-vigilant around unfamiliar men on walks but is never aggressive. He needs appropriate chew toys to keep his mind busy during downtime to prevent chewing household items.

Transporation
Remi is in San Antonio, Texas. The rescue does not transport dogs.
