Boone is a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, weighing approximately 18 pounds. He has the kindest face and the softest, most soulful eyes. Boone was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where he had very little human interaction. Despite his past, Boone has remained incredibly gentle, sweet, and eager to experience the love he deserves. He is still learning that the world can be a safe place and is making steady progress every day. Boone will thrive with a patient family who understands that trust is earned through kindness, consistency, and time. Watching him come out of his shell is incredibly rewarding, and he is beginning to discover all the little joys of simply being a dog. He's a quiet, thoughtful little guy who would much rather observe before jumping into something new. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality shines through. Boone doesn't need an exciting lifestyle to be happy. He simply wants a family that will celebrate his small victories, appreciate his gentle nature, and give him the time he needs to blossom. Rescue dogs like Boone have an incredible way of showing gratitude once they know they're safe. The family lucky enough to earn his trust won't just gain a dog; they'll gain a loyal companion whose quiet love and unwavering devotion are worth every ounce of patience. Boone is ready for his second chance and is hoping his forever family is out there waiting to show him what home truly feels like.
Ideal Home
Boone would do best in a calm, patient home that will continue his socialization and help him build confidence at his own pace. A quieter home may be the best fit, and a friendly, confident resident dog could help show him that people and new experiences aren't so scary after all.
Ongoing Health
Boone is being treated for heartworm, and he will need to complete his treatment once adopted. He is neutered and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations.
Training & Support
Boone is learning to walk on a leash and continues to gain confidence with gentle encouragement. He does well in his crate, where he feels safe and secure. Positive reinforcement, predictable routines, and compassionate guidance will help him continue to thrive.
