Norma Jeane

Norma Jeane is an 8ish year old, 10lb poodle mix who is as playful and spunky as they come! We say 8ish because the shelter had her listed as 10 years old, but our private vet said she could be as young as 7 years old. She certainly acts like a lively, playful gal who lives for the ball. Her ideal day would consist of chasing the ball non-stop, with short breaks for naps. An adopter who wants to play fetch with her at least 4 times a day is required – ball is life for this little girl! Norma is wonderful with people, and especially adores young children who are respectful around dogs. She follows her favorite 4-year-old human child all over the house, and they play ball together. She is very sweet to other people, but she is not a cuddler. She wants to play with you or be independent. If you're looking for a dog that will want to snuggle constantly, Norma is not your girl! But, if you're looking for an awesome sidekick who is game for anything, then Norma is just what you're looking for. She has a medium energy level – she is not going to want to go for super long walks, but she would enjoy going along for the ride, whether in your arms or in a stroller. Once inside with a ball and the air conditioning, it's game on! Norma has not exhibited any separation anxiety and she is non-destructive in the home when left free-roam. She is great in the car and loves looking out the window. Norma lives with 3 other large dogs and coexists perfectly with them, acting as if they were not there. She would be fine living in a home with another dog, but she does not like super energetic dogs that get in her space. Another laid-back dog would be great, but she would also be perfectly content as a solo dog! Overall, Norma is just a wonderful, lively little pup who is looking for her BFF to do life with.

Ideal Home

Norma Jeane would love a home with an adopter who will play fetch with her at least 4 times a day. She adores young, respectful children and would thrive in a household with them. She does not like super energetic dogs that get in her space, so a calm canine companion or a home as the only pet would be ideal. She is not a cuddler and prefers an owner who understands her need for independence and playtime over constant snuggling.

Ongoing Health

Norma Jeane successfully completed heartworm treatment. She was not spayed prior to treatment as heartworm management was the priority. We will work with the adopter on an appropriate spay date prior to leaving our rescue.

Training & Support

Norma Jeane is not 100% potty trained. If a back door is left open, she will do her business outside, but she may have accidents inside if not closely supervised. She has not yet mastered signaling her need to go outside. She is reliably potty trained when in her crate, which is essentially her palace, and never has accidents there.

Transportation

All of our dogs are fostered in Houston, TX. We work with trusted transport partners to transport our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Adopters are also encouraged to come to Houston to pick up their pup. Once an adoption is confirmed, our team will work with you to determine the best transport schedule.
