Sammy

Sammy is a sweet 9-year-old gentleman who weighs an estimated 55lbs fully grown. He's a wonderfully mellow boy who enjoys relaxed afternoons and spending quality time with his people. Sammy would be the perfect companion for outings to breweries, restaurants, and social events, as he's a go-with-the-flow kind of guy who just loves to be by your side. He's also a great traveler and enjoys car rides! Sammy doesn't let his age slow him down; he's still quite playful and loves going on 3-mile hikes, greeting everyone they pass with a friendly wag. He's a delightful dog who would be a wonderful addition to almost any home.

Ideal Home

Sammy would be comfortable in a home with another dog or as a solo pup. He lived with a cat in his foster home and did wonderfully. While Sammy is calm and gentle with children, he would do best in a home with older children or adults.

Ongoing Health

Sammy was mostly fed people food throughout his life, which has made him reluctant to eat kibble. He absolutely loves wet dog food and has been enjoying that now that his appetite has returned.

Training & Support

Sammy already knows "Sit" and "Stay" and would love your help teaching him even more cues! He is housebroken and was never had an accident in his foster home. Sammy is also crate trained, though he can get a little whiny in his crate, he never barks. He has also spent nights uncrated and was on his best behavior, proving to be quiet and not destructive. He understands which toys are his! Sammy does not like it when people try to take his food or other items he's chewing on.

Transporation

Sammy is located at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center and can be transported to approved adopters.
