What we know: Litter of 5 (4M, 1 F) transferred from Ruffneck Rescue in Texas at approximately 3 months old. The puppies were living outdoors prior to being surrendered, but no further information is known. Came with the name Pecos.

From the foster: Meet Zydeco ("Zy") & Nola - Louisiana Spirit in Two Beautiful Catahoula / Heeler Pups

If you're looking for a smart, adventurous companion, these two are the real deal. Zy and Nola are stunning Catahoula siblings with gorgeous, unique markings and adorable white socks (Zy's front socks are just a little longer). They're as beautiful as they are intelligent.

These pups are energetic, curious, and always ready for the next adventure. They'll thrive with active humans who enjoy hiking, exploring, training, or simply including their dog in everyday life. Catahoulas are thinkers, and these two have already shown they're convinced they know a thing or two! They'll absolutely keep you smiling.

This week has been all about learning household manners and discovering life inside a home. Believe it or not, these country pups had never really experienced living indoors. They've quickly discovered that humans are pretty wonderful, and they've become huge fans of cuddles, affection, and being close to their people.

They're also wonderfully independent and will need families committed to providing both physical exercise and mental enrichment. Puzzle toys, training sessions, hiking adventures, and jobs to do will help these bright puppies become exceptional companions.

They sleep through the night in their crates like champs, but remember that they have spent this week with their sibling. Daytime crating isn't their favorite, but they continue to improve, and it's an important part of their routine while they learn what belongs to them-and what belongs to you. They've had no accidents in the house, thanks to a consistent schedule and structure.

One of their funniest quirks? They share my appreciation for flip-flops! Thankfully, they're not destructive-they simply love carrying them no no no no no here and other treasures out into the backyard as if they're collecting souvenirs.

Because they were raised outdoors on dirt, they've developed a habit of scavenging and digging. The dry ground has only encouraged it, so they'll need consistent redirection and plenty of appropriate outlets for their energy as they learn better habits. Or better yet a place in your yard where it's allowed!!

Leash training is a work in progress. They've had very little practice so far, but we're getting them started. Their new family should expect to continue building this skill with patience and consistency.

Both pups ride beautifully in the car and have happily accompanied me wherever I've gone.

These puppies are looking for more than just a home-they're looking for confident leaders. They need someone who understands that firm boundaries create security and that consistency is one of the greatest forms of love you can give a dog. In return, you'll gain an incredibly loyal, affectionate, and intelligent companion who will be ready for every adventure by your side.
