Ruby is a very special dog who, when she finds her person, is the most loyal companion. She loves to follow her person around the house, always wanting to be close. While she may not always be cuddly, when Ruby decides it's time for snuggles, she is a true sweetheart. When she feels happy and safe, Ruby has a unique habit of holding a piece of blanket in her mouth and "kneading" it like a cat. If she notices you watching, she might get a little embarrassed and stop!
Ruby enjoys going on walks, enthusiastically "chasing" birds and squirrels in the backyard, playing with her favorite rope toy, and rolling around on her back. Her absolute favorite thing, however, is WATER! Ruby adores playing in a baby pool outside, especially on warm days. She loves it so much that she'll run in circles to avoid going inside. This love for water also makes her a great sport for bath time. Ruby's least favorite things are being left alone and storms. Despite her tough exterior, she has a soft soul and struggles with anxiety during scary situations.
Ideal Home
Ruby would do best in a home as an only pet with no children. Strangers can be a bit intimidating for Ruby, as she wants to protect her people. With patience, love, and plenty of treats, she will warm up and accept new people. Ruby has boundaries, but she always provides clear warnings when they are being approached. She can sometimes act like a grumpy old lady, but at her core, Ruby is a big softy. She will love her people with all her heart, and her big smile will show you just how happy she is to be around them.
