About FOSTER VOLUNTEERS WANTED

We're on the lookout for compassionate individuals to join our team as Foster Volunteers! Fostering is a rewarding way to make a huge difference in the lives of animals awaiting their forever homes. We provide all the necessary training and supplies, so you can focus on providing a loving, temporary home.

Ideal Home

A peaceful and loving environment is key for our foster animals to thrive. If you have existing pets, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations and in good health. All family members should be ready for the commitment and emotional journey of fostering.

Ongoing Health

While we provide necessary vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries, you'll be responsible for monitoring your foster animal's health and bringing them in for follow-up appointments as needed.

Training & Support

You'll need to be prepared to isolate foster animals from your own pets as required and quarantine them for 14 days to prevent disease spread. Spending quality time socializing and monitoring your foster pet is crucial, with a commitment of at least two hours per day for interaction and health checks (this can vary depending on the animal). Pet-proofing your home is also important to ensure their safety.

Application Details:

  • Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Complete a foster care application and sign a foster care agreement.
  • Be ready to pick up your foster pet within a 24-hour notice as an "on-deck" foster.
  • Commit to the entire foster period with the animal.
  • Maintain open communication with the Foster Program Coordinator.

Transporation

Foster animals are located at the Caledon Animal Shelter, 12889 Coleraine Drive, Bolton ON. We can discuss transportation options when you contact us.
