About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, around 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and adores being doted on. She's curious by nature and always the first to investigate new things. She's a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dog friends, making her a perfect pup for an active family that enjoys including their furry friend in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor means she can adapt easily to different environments and enjoys family adventures. Whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or chasing toys, Annie is always happy as long as she's with her humans. She's playful and curious when it's time for fun, but also mellow and ready to relax on the couch. She's also great at entertaining herself, keeping busy with toys or napping.
Ideal Home
Annie would thrive in a variety of homes. She'd love an active family that enjoys walks, exploring, and spending time outdoors. She'd also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. She does need a fenced yard for safe play and exercise. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, she would also be happy as the "only child" receiving all the attention. Public dog parks are not recommended due to health and safety concerns. A home where her humans work from home or have a hybrid schedule is ideal, but if not, a dog walker or doggy daycare is recommended for longer work days.
Ongoing Health
Annie is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary vet care while in rescue. She is starting to teethe, so her new family will need to supervise her to prevent chewing on inappropriate items.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, alerting her foster family by circling at the back door when she needs to go out. A doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn this communication method. She needs a consistent potty schedule initially, especially in a new environment, but she adjusts quickly. She has started leash training and will need additional practice to perfect her skills. She is dog, cat, and kid-friendly and knows how to respect boundaries with other dogs. However, she may be too energetic for a senior dog unaccustomed to puppy play. If she is the only dog, regular playdates or doggy daycare are recommended. She would do best with older children experienced with small breeds who can handle her carefully, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up.
