Stovepipe is an adorable 3-4 month old, 15-pound Dachshund-Poodle mix who believes personal space is highly overrated. He came to us from a shelter with his brother, and though he was initially overwhelmed and frightened, he's quickly discovering how wonderful puppyhood can be. Stovepipe starts his mornings with a potty break and breakfast, and then it's a delightful rotation of naps, toys, backyard time, and supervising his foster family. He's a smart boy who entertains himself when left alone and is making great progress with house training, routinely taking himself outside. He sleeps soundly in bed, pressed up against his humans, without needing overnight potty breaks.
Ideal Home
Stovepipe's ideal home would include another playful dog who can continue building his confidence. He would do best with patient adopters who understand he's still gaining confidence and learning about the world. He would love a family that enjoys including their dog in everyday life and is prepared to share their furniture, and possibly their pillow.
Ongoing Health
Stovepipe is still completing his vaccinations, so he has not yet started leash walks.
Training & Support
Stovepipe has made impressive progress with house training and can hold it overnight. While he has come a long way, he's still building the confidence to feel settled when his people step out, something the right home can help him grow through. Stovepipe hasn't fully grasped the concept of personal space with the senior dog in his foster home and continues to politely check if she's ready to play.
