Meet Shadow, a delightful 1-year-old Black Lab and Pitbull mix who is approximately 45 pounds of pure sweetness! Shadow is a very affectionate and playful girl who instantly wants to be your best friend. She loves to play tug-of-war, entertain herself with toys, and is always up for a good cuddle session and some favored booty scratches. Shadow is already potty trained and walks well on a leash for 10-20 minutes a day, and she knows some simple commands! She's eager to learn, very treat-motivated, and her positive attitude will surely bring light into your family.
Ideal Home
Shadow would thrive in a home with a yard where she can play, but she could also adapt well to an apartment if she receives proper exercise and enrichment. She enjoys playing with other dogs but can be a bit overwhelmed by very high-energy pups, doing best with calm, medium-energy playmates. Shadow would likely benefit from having another dog in the home to help build her confidence. A cat-free home is recommended, as Shadow can get a little too playful with feline friends. Given her bouncy puppy energy, older children would likely be the best fit for her.
Ongoing Health
Shadow is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. She has also received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. She has been spayed and microchipped with free lifetime registration.
Training & Support
Shadow is still mastering her leash manners, which is typical for her age and will improve with time and consistency. Her treat motivation and existing knowledge of "sit" make her a joy to train. Our trainers have provided her with behavioral assessments and support, including crate training and leash walking, to prepare her for her forever home.

Shadow is located in the Houston, Texas area. Transport is available nationwide through our rescue's USDA-certified transport system, with drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. A $87 surcharge applies for transportation. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
