Shelby is a happy, goofy, and affectionate 6-month-old spayed female Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix who is ready to bring joy and playfulness into your home! Currently weighing 39 pounds, she's expected to be a large dog when fully grown with a distinctive long body. Shelby and her mom and sister were rescued from a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, after being found as strays. She has truly blossomed in her foster home and is now eagerly awaiting her forever family. Shelby is a curious and eager learner who forms deep connections with her people, making every moment special.
Ideal Home
Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys a dog's companionship and attention. She needs a family that is patient with puppy training and wants an affectionate member to include in all their adventures, whether it's hiking, walking, playing in the yard, or simply spending quality time together.
Ongoing Health
Shelby is generally healthy and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Shelby is a puppy and requires continued basic training. She has learned to sit, walks nicely on a harness, and plays appropriately with toys and bones. She is still mastering house training and shows subtle behaviors when she needs to go outside, but with consistency, she is expected to learn quickly. She sleeps through the night in her crate and tolerates it, but prefers to be near her people and other dogs. Shelby should not be crated excessively as she is social and happiest when included in daily life. While she has shown mild growling with her sister over puppy competition for attention, she has no issues with toys or treats around other dogs and does not guard resources from people. She would benefit from a slow feeder for her enthusiastic eating.
