Chico Diablo is a stunning black and tan Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He's lean, muscular, and athletic, with a love for playing with balls and being outdoors. Chico is affectionate with his foster family, seeking attention and cuddles. He's crate trained, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is leash-trained, responding well to verbal commands.
Ideal Home
Chico would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard where he can exercise and play. He's looking for a family that can provide him with the affection he craves. While not necessary, he might find comfort in a home with another dog, preferably a medium to large female. Due to his sensitivity to having his collar grabbed, we do not recommend a home with small children, as he can be self-protective. He is sensitive to yelling and is not a dominant personality. He is not tested with cats or small animals.
Ongoing Health
Chico is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and has been treated for heartworm and is on prevention. He has reached a healthy weight and has a shiny coat, likely due to his food motivation.
Training & Support
Chico is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. He will bark at noises, alarms, and people outside of his property. He may "fence fight" (bark, growl, and push against a barrier) with other male dogs, but will back down without a barrier. He is submissive, gentle, and playful with female dogs. We do not recommend dog parks or a home with another male dog. He needs confident owners to establish clear boundaries for his safety. He is sensitive to being grabbed by the collar and may use his teeth to ask for space without puncturing skin, a sign of self-protection. Muzzling may be necessary during vet visits with strangers.
