Tank

Meet Tank! He's a handsome 4-year-old neutered male Rottweiler mix with a heart of gold and a past that's truly heartbreaking. Tank witnessed domestic violence and bravely stood between his humans, protecting the woman from harm without resorting to aggression. He spent significant time at a training facility, which he came to see as a safe haven from the horrors he experienced.

Ideal Home

Tank would thrive in a quieter home with a moderately active individual or couple. He needs guardians who will help him heal from his abusive past. Due to his protective nature and past experiences, Tank is not recommended for homes with other dogs or cats, and he would be happiest as the only pet. He is not recommended to be left outside unattended as he may try to escape to be with his people.

Ongoing Health

Tank has a history of developing hot spots on his cheeks during spring and fall, which typically resolve without extensive medical intervention. He has also undergone surgery for entropion, a condition where his eyelashes curled inward.

Training & Support

Tank knows his basic commands and is crate-trained and house-trained. However, he needs work on his leash skills. He does prefer to be an outside dog, but due to his protective instincts and tendency to escape, he should not be left unsupervised outdoors. He is also a resource guarder and would do best in a home without other pets.
