Hi there! I'm Montana, a sweet and loyal lovebug who's ready to find my forever home. I might be a little shy at first, but once I trust you, I'll be your most devoted companion. My past on the streets was tough, and I even had a painful encounter with motor oil that burned my skin. Thankfully, kind rescuers found me and gave me the medical care and love I desperately needed. Now, my fur has grown back, my body has healed, and my spirit has truly blossomed! I'm a happy, silly girl full of life and affection. I have a slight limp from an old paw injury, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying playtime with my friends. I'm not ideal for high-impact exercise like jogging, but I'd love to join you on hikes and enjoy yard play. When new people visit, I tend to observe from a distance, but with a little patience and gentle encouragement, I'll quickly warm up and shower you with sweet face licks. I thrive on feeling safe and secure, and once I do, I'll be your shadow, always looking for a chance to snuggle.
Ideal Home
I love playing with other dogs and get along with most pups, especially those who enjoy a good wrestling match! I can get a bit overstimulated during play, so a home that understands I might need breaks to wind down would be great. I also enjoy calmer play and can adapt my style. While I'm great with the shelter owner's 7-year-old daughter, I startle easily and need slow introductions, so I'm looking for a home without young children. I might chase a cat if other dogs do, so I'm unsure about feline friends. If you have another dog, I'd love a confident but not overly dominant buddy to help me continue building trust and joy. I need a home that can offer me time and patience as I continue to adjust to a secure and loving life.
Ongoing Health
I have a slight limp from an old injury on my front paw, but it doesn't slow me down. It might make me less suited for repetitive high-impact exercise.
Training & Support
I am crate trained and view my crate as a safe space. I haven't shown any resource guarding with toys or people and am respectful during mealtimes. I need patient and gentle introductions to new people and situations.
