Some dogs have every reason not to trust people. Tadpole isn't one of them.
Tadpole came to us from Milwaukee after being found literally tied to a pole, which is how he got his name. When he entered rescue, he was severely underweight, weak, and in desperate need of care. Today, he's gaining weight, getting stronger every day, and proving just how resilient dogs can be.
Despite his difficult start, Tadpole is one of the sweetest, most affectionate puppies you'll ever meet. His favorite place in the world is curled up on someone's lap, and if given the choice, he'd happily spend the entire evening snuggled on the couch with his people. He's also a big fan of tennis balls and proudly carries one around wherever he goes.
Tadpole has done wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, cats, and children. While he enjoys playing with his canine friends, he would likely do best in a home that isn't overly busy or chaotic, as he truly appreciates quiet time and relaxing with his family. He's making excellent progress with potty training and walks nicely on a leash. He can sleep in a crate at night, although he'd much rather be snuggled up beside you—and he's an excellent co-sleeper.
Tadpole is estimated to be about 6 months old and currently weighs 17.6 pounds. We expect him to mature to around 30 pounds once he reaches a healthy weight. His new family will need to be committed to continuing his weight gain and helping him become the healthy, strong dog he was always meant to be. He also has one of the most beautiful chocolate coats we've ever seen...and surprisingly, he loves bath time.
